Audio & Visual Technologies
A traditional visual technology I could use in the classroom would be an overhead projector. I could use this to write math problems on a transparency sheet and have students work on them while being projected onto the board. An emerging visual technology I could use would be a camera, students could take pictures of things pertaining to the days lesson and we could talk about the different pictures.
A traditional audio technology I could use in the classroom would be a tape recorder. For students that may have a hard time paying attention or for students that were not in class that day, I could record the lecture and let students listen to the lecture in case they missed it. An emerging audio technology I could use would be an mp3 player. Some students while working on in class assignments may enjoy music to help them concentrate, or if there were audio books downloaded on the mp3 that would be a different but interesting way for the student to learn.
Technologies in the classroom
I would prefer to teach in a classroom that had more digital technologies because there are many different ways to teach with the countless amounts of technologies available. With all the different technologies that are already available to us and the up and coming technologies that are now being made and coming out, there are many different and creative ways of teaching and ways to get your students involved and keep them interested in the topics that you are teaching on. Although there are many cons of using technology such as the reliability and the fact that it might be a distraction to some students, these are things that teachers must take into account and must find ways to work around and overcome these problems.
